Coronavirus advisory information

The novel corona virus which was first detected in wuhan is now spreading other parts of the globe.

Preventive measures applies to all airports in Tamil Nadu following first confirmed corona virus case in Kerala .

Passengers arriving from wuhan at Chennai and other airports in Tamil Nadu  are now required to provide blood samples for corona virus screening with immediate effect.

A women who studies in wuhan rested positive  for the virus that has till now killed 170 people and is spreading fast. WHO (World health organisation ) and center for disease control , US are monitoring the situation closely. 

As of now there is no vaccine for coronavirus but personal hygiene goes long way in prevention said Former city health officer . 

What is a coronavirus ?

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are known to cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.

A novel coronavirus (CoV) is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. 

 some coronaviruses can be transmitted from person to person, usually after close contact with an infected patient, for example, in a household workplace, or health care centre.

It depends on the virus, but common signs include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.
